RAMCHARGERS History Page 2

Gradually, the factories began to pull away from sponsoring funny-car teams, and returned to stock products that could be purchased and raced by the public. Soon the 429 Boss Mustang and the COPO 427 Camaro were joined by the 1970 Hemi-Cuda and Hemi Challenger.

By that time RAMCHARGERS, had become a trademarked name, owned by the members of the team. When the factory sponsorship began to wind-down, they continued their pursuit of high performance, and created the RAMCHARGERS PERFORMANCE CONNECTION, these speed shops continued to sponsor the RAMCHARGERS team car.

The 1970 Hemi-Cuda was campaigned by Dean Nicopolis under the RAMCHARGERS name until 1986, when it was retired. It won 37 class championships at national events, and was Super Stock Division III Champion in 1980. The car was restored in 1997 by the team members Dean Nicopolis & Jack Ottino, and is recognized by Chrysler Corporation and authenticated and licensed under the Trademark Name, RAMCHARGERS as a true survivor.
